I'm late coming to this, but I love reading about (and listening to) Rolling Thunder material. Rob Stoner's insights into the band are a great read, and his comments about Bob Neuwirth are hilarious.
I think Stoners being very harsh about Bob Neuwirth. Its true that "When I Paint My Masterpeice" is shambolic but thats Dylans fault as well. Ive heard some of Neuwirth solo work and it sounds excellent
I'll chime in a couple of years later and add that I think Rob hot every one of the players hit on the head. I was at the Burlington show. Neuwirth was there as a poseur. He certainly Ain't no great musician. He just paid some dues and knew when to laugh at the right jokes.
