What a great interview, Ray - so cool to hear from Mickey!
["While rubato is often loosely taken to mean playing with expressive and rhythmic freedom, it was traditionally used specifically in the context of expression as speeding up and then slowing down the tempo."]
Mickey is my all-time favorite harmonica player, no contest. HIs solo on Willie's version of "Georgia On My Mind" is one of the most perfect moments in recorded music.
Of course Bob has usually played harmonica in a harness while playing the guitar, and I don't think you can wah-wah with that set-up! There's a website somewhere with a table showing his ingenious use of harmonicas in unusual keys for specific songs. I get annoyed when his playing is criticised, stupidly, and it's great that a virtuoso can appreciate Bob's playing.

Your cowboy hat!❤️
This is just awesome❤️❤️❤️
What a wonderful interview. And that moment when Willie unknowingly waves off Bob’s nod for a Mickey solo…hilarious.
