I was told by another art student in his 1974 painting class that Dylan's teacher, Norman Raeben, told him that he was "Tangled up in Blue." It is a particularly messy blue color that he recommended for beginning artists.
Now that the Dylan archives are available (to *vetted* researchers) at the BD Center, the question of written but unperformed lyrical variations can theoretically be addressed. Would have to ask the curator of the collection there what criteria are used for qualifying as a researcher, whether this TUIB question is being studied, and how much of the collection is yet to be sorted and catalogued.
Yeah - I know that feeling! I saw my first show in ‘87 and it will always be special for me as a result. Listening back now, it may not have been his finest moment, but it will always be a favourite of mine.
That whole 2004 show is a blast. One of my absolute keepers from the NET.
First photo is my shot: Dublin Feb 5 1993 Point Depot
This was a hoot - thank you

OMG..MY FAV ALL TIME..
But 1993? I can’t get past the nasal delivery. Surely, far better eras? I went back to check. Not my favourites by a long way.
