It’s somehow appropriate that 15 wonderful and diverse takes (mine included) still somehow can’t capture or contain this man and what he does. But there were worlds and lifetimes and just too much profound art in that building last night. Words cannot do it justice.

I was happy to see this first show of the tour and to do it in what is fast becoming one of my favorite (and most frequently visited) towns, and figured I’d be happy to just read about the rest of this leg… But that is no longer true. Standing in the warm evening after the show the idea of not taking in a few more became wholly unacceptable. So on down the road we go…

As the posters say: Don’t you dare miss it.

AWESOME -- look forward to you getting out there to Omaha and Sioux City, and such a cool, real vantage point to take in a show versus, say, Beacon in NYC, etc... The fact Dylan takes his shows so local a key facet to his ongoing big-time relevance to our culture and live music. Only artist that comes close to Dylan's gravitas I continue to see -- who takes his smaller-format band (Wolf Brothers) out to America's nooks and crannies -- is Bob Weir. I salute the 2 Bob's for keeping things real, and love the fact Anton Fig is now behind the kit. Look forward to your reporting from the Heartland!

I listened to someone’s recording of It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue from Tulsa on YouTube and it was beautiful. The clarity in his singing is what really stood out to me. When he ends a verse by extending the last word, his voice has such a nice sound to it.

Ray, you posted some great reviews from people who were there last night, but you didn't take credit for the 6 songs you got right on the Tulsa setlist you shared from your inside info!

We drove down from Lincoln Nebraska (and back home today) and it was well worth it. Sound-wise it was one of the best Dylan shows I have seen, by which I mean you could hear everything including the vocals and it all worked together. And that, I think, was a function of the performance itself. The vocals were clearly enunciated and well-sung. There was enough air in the arrangements and playing that you could hear it all together and pick out parts if you liked. Maybe I'm a bit conventional, but I liked the song choices and that I knew most of them well and he played several favorites. Desolation Row perhaps most notable, but not by any means the only one.

As usual, the melodies changed, but he was mostly able to hit the notes he wanted and to resolve lines on just the note he was aiming for. This was more impressive to me because he seemed to be going higher in his range to do that, and it worked. It may have helped that this was the first show of this leg of the tour, but even so it was impressive. And his timing, which I've always thought was the key to his being a great vocalist however raggedy his voice might get, was very very sharp.

I do think the audience was adoring and supportive. I liked the whole band standing for a while, while we cheered at the end of the show. They all earned that, and of course Dylan earned more than that.
