big Dylan fan read and listened to it all - for me 'blood in my eyes' was his lyrical swan song, ever since he is doing what he does best, playing. and why not, you wouldn't ask a juggler to stop juggling. dylan is a GOAT of music and the period between 65 and 72 still astounds to this day.
What a great interview (again), with new perspectives. I can totally relate to a lot of it, and it give new perspectives on listening to some shows again. Or perhaps just the drummer ;-)
Ray, I love this so much. Endlessly fascinating. I'm the same---pay as much attention to the melody and hooks, and the tonal quality of The Voice, its husk-and-bark, as to the lyrics. And I love especially the insights from musicians. Like in this interview--the mistakes on Like a Rolling Stone.
Great stuff as always. Quick correction, Charlie ‘Chalo’ Quintana got Winston Watson the gig with Bob. Definitely worth pinning down Winnie and JJ for an interview. They created a new garage sound for Bob where he wasn’t just playing genres as he has with his more recent bands.
I heard a great cover of watered down love once where a horn section did the guitar interludes between each version. Perfection.
Man. What a great interview! More Jon!
So many great lines, but this one in particular: "This is a guy who changes the air of every room he walks into since he was in his early 20s."
love this, Ray!
