Laughed out loud at the title Ray, classic, thanks for taking one for the team!

I used to think that musical theater was some form of high culture that I was too much of a philistine to appreciate. But seeing what slop a Tony award winner can put out, I don't feel so bad for not appreciating it.

You've captured the uncapturable. I have PTSD just seeing a few of these clips. What an atrocious night out it was back in 2006. If someone uncovers the Broadway chat board where people were snarking on it, the comments provided catharsis and healing from a godforsaken show. I was sad to see recently that Twyla Tharp was blaming the poor reception/closure of the show on possessive Dylan fans. Had not one Dylan fan darkened the door of this show, I believe it would have flopped just as hard. Thank you (I think) for revisiting this.

Can't help recalling the scene where Elliott in 'Goodbye Girl' (the 1977 one) gets drunk after the opening (and subsequent immediate closing) of the horrible off-off-off-off-OFF Broadway "Richard the III" play where he has to portray Richard as a flamey hunchback. Was there any liquor shortage in the vicinity of Broadway when this circus blew town?

Thanks for saving us. I tend to hate the musical format for being overly contrived lyrically and theatrically. It’s just not for me with a few exceptions. I also read that Tharp blamed Dylan fans. I am going to see “Girl from the North Country” or whatever it’s called, but have low expectations. It’s funny to me Dylan gets called a bad singer but some of these renditions (especially in these clips)...my oh my. Going to side with Dylan singing LARS or Desolation any day.

Man. That sounds like the terriblelest musical in the entire history of bad musicals.
